Idris Elba has been making quite a name for himself in recent years, showcasing his talents in the acting business. Before garnering widespread praise and recognition, however, the actor started his journey like everyone else: in square one.

To cover whatever personal loans he had at the time, Elba once worked a couple of jobs before becoming an established actor, one of which was a tire-fitter. Thankfully, all his hard work has undoubtedly paid off. Since then, Elba has become most known for his performance in films such as Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Pacific Rim, American Gangster, and most recently, The Suicide Squad. He’s also set to voice the character of Knuckles for Sonic the Hedgehog’s follow-up film. With that said, the actor has also ventured to other endeavors besides acting. Along with his DJ work as Big Driis, the Thor actor also gave kickboxing a try. His 12-month training was documented on the show Idris Elba: Fighter, with the series concluding with the actor’s match against Lionel Graves – spoilers: he won.
