Elizabeth Hanks is the daughter of the successful and Academy Award-winning actor Tom Hanks. Samantha Lewes, the late actress, was her mother. She received her diploma from Archer School of Girls in Los Angeles, California, in 2001. She studied literature at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland from 2003 to 2004. In 2004, she relocated to New York and attended Vassar College, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature degree.

Elizabeth has been acting since she was a child. Her most famous role as a child was in the film Forrest Gump, which was nominated for six Academy Awards. When she grew up, she worked at The Huffington Post as an assistant news editor. In 1996, she appeared in the musical comedy-drama The Thing You Do for a cameo. She also played Paula in Michael Lawson’s short drama Anchorage in 2015. Currently, she is the Children’s Director at the Los Angeles Review of Books.
