Nicole Richie, the daughter of singer Lionel Richie, rose to popularity after featuring on the reality show The Simple Life with childhood friend Paris Hilton. She is the founder of the House of Harlow 1960 lifestyle brand, the Winter Kate clothing line, and a judge on reality television shows.

Richie also pursued a musical career, joining Darling, a rock band that included model Josie Maran and socialite sisters Soleil and Sofia Alberti, in 2004. Richie then made her acting debut in the 2005 film Kids in America as a cheerleader. In 2005, Richie published The Truth About Diamonds, a semi-autobiographical book. Priceless, her second novel, was released in September 2010. Richie has also appeared in guest roles on shows such as Six Feet Under, 8 Easy Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter, and Chuck, among others. Richie debuted her own jewelry collection, House of Harlow 1960, in 2008. Madonna and Ashlee Simpson have also been seen wearing her retro-styled pieces. Richie extended her business empire to include apparel the following year. Winter Kate was launched in spring 2010 and has since grown into a successful high-end fashion line. Richie, who has quickly risen to prominence in the fashion world, shared her design insights on the reality show Fashion Star in 2012. She mentors a group of young designers alongside Jessica Simpson and John Varvatos. In addition to her outstanding credit, Richie has also acted as a judge on the show Making the Cut.
