Actors Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey did a great job portraying the characters Baby and Johnny – and they even looked like a real couple on the reel! In the film, Johnny taught Baby how to dance until they fell in love. Of course, the movie ended with a scene of their signature dance moves. Who could ever forget (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life, the best soundtrack in cinematic history?
Rose and Jack, Titanic
My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion is the song that comes to mind every time we see the film poster of Titanic, with Jack standing behind Rose while she raises her arms in the air. We don’t want to be biased, but Titanic tops our list of all-time favorite romantic movies, which means that we are the biggest fans of the characters Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt-Bukater. The film, however, won’t be a box-office success if not for the lead actors—credits to Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet— who have managed to captivate the audience with their acting prowess. The iconic movie line, “You jump, I jump, remember?” will always remain in our hearts.
Vivian and Edward, Pretty Woman
Richard Gere, the ultimate Hollywood heartthrob of the ’80s and ’90s, decided to elevate his acting career when he starred in the romantic comedy film Pretty Woman. Here, Julia Roberts did an excellent job being Gere’s leading lady too. The film centered on Vivian (Julia Roberts) and Edward (Richard Gere), where they first had a meet-cute and later rescued each other from their troubles. Our favorite scene: Vivian’s shopping spree with countless credit cards!
Allie and Noah, The Notebook
Nicholas Sparks’ classic novel was adapted into a film of the same name in 2004, and you all know who the lead actors are. Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling played Allie and Noah, respectively— and they made sure to make us laugh and cry with their astounding performance in the film. The scene where they kissed in the rain got us intoxicated with their degree of love for each other. Did you know Gosling and McAdams were a real-life couple at the time of filming The Notebook? How wonderful, right?
Sandy and Danny, Grease
The legendary film of the late ’70s got us dancing and falling in love! Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta’s investments in the hit film Grease were definitely worth it as the romantic musical comedy remains a must-watch film today. The story revolves around the typical, unexpected high school love story of innocent girl Sandy and bad boy Danny. Grease has stood the test of time, which is why Sandy and Danny remain one of the most unforgettable couples.
Sally and Harry, When Harry Met Sally
The 1989 film When Harry Met Sally stars American actors Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal. In this story, their characters Sally and Harry, meet in Chicago at the back of a car before sharing a cross-country drive. They continue to cross each other’s paths in a series of chance encounters, and a decade later, they ended up tying the knot. This film is undoubtedly one of the finest romantic comedies with a high and positive credit score!
